SCULPTS, DRAWINGS
It goes without saying that the Sculptor is one of the few who can feel and understand the essence of nature. He makes use of real tangible space and gets the essence of nature: stone, soil, wood, etc.
Janusz Czumaczenko is the one who carefully and sensitively selects the materials for his sculptural activities. Only where it is necessary does he alter the given shape of a rock, the trunk of a tree to emphasise the trace of his existence at the right time and space.

We all live in the world that seems to be an ever accelerating, impossible to stop machine. New media, noise and, first of all, consumption-oriented modern society crowd people of culture out into reserves which seem to be captivity and yet, paradoxically, they are the only salvation. There, in that still 'virgin' space they can concentrate on art and taste its spiritual elements. What is comforting here is the fact the audience (viewers, readers, music lovers) are willing to accept that alienation.
For you, my dear audience, I have written a few following sentences and presented my works at the exhibition.
The work is not the essence of creation. What is much more important is the process of seeking the truth, a reliable search for the mystery of art.
The creation process begins with seeking or, to be precise, finding the right material. I most frequently use granite, syenite or gneiss found in the fields. The chosen and delivered rock becomes 'a family member', a partner you can talk to. Sometimes it may be the centre of a long lasting social meeting during which I walk around it, sit, touch and examine it carefully. This 'togetherness' does not have to last long but it is always very intensive, as if I wanted to get an insight into something that cannot be penetrated.
All doubts and innuendoes disappear in the process of work. What is important then is concentration, certainty and, to a great extent, intuition. The rite reoccurs in the course of approving of the ready element as a part of the whole work. Making use of fragments of stone forms with some visible chips on them I transfer chance into a deliberate creative act.
