Born in Kutno on 8th March, 1945. He studied at the State High School of Fine Arts (PWSSP), the Faculty of Textile Art in 1963-1969. He specialised in textile printing. He studied painting in the studios headed by Professor Stanisław Byrski and Professor Stanisław Fijałkowski, textile design in the studios headed by Professor Janina Tworek-Pierzgalska and Professor Hanna Orzechowska, composition in the studio headed by Professor Lech Kunka.

He got a diploma with an honourable mention in 1969. In 1971 he started working as an academic teacher at PWSSP, Graphics Department. Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts named after Władysław Strzemiński in Łódź. He is the head of the Studio of Woodcut Techniques. Since 1984 he has been the head of the Chair of Graphic Art. He is also a Professor at the Academy of Humanities and Economy, Graphics Department (WSHE) in Łódź. Since 2002 he has been a Professor at Świętokrzyska Academy named after Jan Kochanowski in Kielce (school in Piotrków Trybunalski) at the Department of Social Studies. Since 1969 a member of the Union of Polish Artists. In 1986-2000 a member of the International Society of Woodcutters XYLON with the seat in Switzerland. He is concerned with graphics, painting, drawing, textile art, he creates artistic books and objects.

The artist had about 100 individual exhibitions in Poland, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, the USA. In 1969-2003 he participated in more than 400 local and international exhibitions of Polish art abroad, in competitions, auctions and art fairs. His works are in many museums, libraries as well as in public and private collections in Poland, Europe and America. He got numerous awards, honourable mentions and medals in competitions and exhibitions as well as for his artistic and didactic work in artistic education (3 times he was the winner of the award founded by the Ministry of Culture and Art).
